This log cabin is called the “original 150 year old mobile
home.” It was built in Kentucky, dismantled and partially erected in
Castroville...and finally brought to Fredericksburg to the present location in
late 1986.
The original log structure is one room...and used now as a
sitting room with leather sofa placed in front of the wood fireplace. The walls
are the original log walls with very high ceiling. While you’re inside you feel
as though you’re far into the country—step outside and your actually in the
heart of the city. The addition to the log cabin is a small modern kitchen
equipped with a coffee maker, microwave and small refrigerator. Also, a charming
bedroom with a queen iron bed, topped with a cream petit point quilt, offers
more comfort than any pioneer could have hoped for. The bath adjoins the bedroom
and has a shower.
Relaxing on the rockers of the front porch is a special
treat, especially since Town Creek is part of the view. There is also a seating
area in the yard—ideal for a little nature watching.
Town Creek Log Cabin is truly a treat, inside and out. The yard is landscaped
with native Texas plants and an assortment of herbs. This log cabin is located
only a block from Main Street (walking distance to bakery, restaurants and
shops) and only one block from Marktplatz—the site of many of our festivals.
