Nestled in the hills just outside Fredericksburg alongside the year round flowingPalo Alto Creek, is a wonderful pioneer farmstead. Palo Alto Creek Farm retains all of its original buildings, providing a visual timeline from when this farmstead was first settled by German immigrant Karl Itz and his bride, until the present day. The Itz House - This original farm house circa 1875 is perfect for small groups of family and friends. Downstairs offers a living room with a wood burning fireplace, comfy sitting areas and an antique farm dining table. Two handsome wardrobes are used as accents in the house. The downstairs bedroom has a queen size bed, and the bath has a tub/shower. Enjoy making those special meals in the fully equipped kitchen, which comes complete with range/oven, refrigerator, microwave, dishwasher and coffeemaker. The sleeping porch on the front of the house has a day bed sleeping 2 people. Watch the deer come in to feed or just enjoy the surrounding countryside from this wonderful porch. Upstairs is a queen-size bed with a large bathroom with a shower. Bunk beds provide additional sleeping space upstairs. The stairs are original and very steep.

The Barn, a circa 1880 limestone structure, had humble beginnings housing livestock. Today it is meticulously renovated to provide guests the maximum in country elegance and luxury. Windows provide a view of ancient Live Oak trees and beautiful lawns. Enter the barn from a charming vine and lattice covered front porch. This secluded porch is a perfect place to enjoy morning coffee and greet the beautiful Hill Country day. Share dreams and promises in the two cozy chairs facing the fireplace; or watch firelight make shadows dance on the anxient limestone walls from the king-size pine pencil post bed, nestled down in fine linens and plump pillows. Antiques and folk art abound, including an original lightning rod from the Itz farm house. The bathroom, a special feature of The Barn provides the ultimate experience. The whirlpool tub for two, encased in bleached white pine, rests on large slabs of native limestone. Sunlight, or starlight, filters in through a leaded glass window and skylight.

The Log Cabin, circa 1855, is the first structure that was built on this historic homestead. A stay in The Log Cabin, where the Itz family raised eight children, lets you reflect on the character of the pioneers while enjoying all of today's luxury amenities in a charming cottage. Enjoy a romantic evening in front of the fieldstone fireplace, a focal point of the living room. Set the mood with special music, or a nostalgic movie. The TV, VCR and stereo are hidden in an antique jelly cupboard. The bathroom provides the absolute ultimate romantic bathing experience. The look of old limestone and plaster walls, a natural limestone floor, and a cedar ceiling supported by ancient juniper beams provide the perfect setting for the whirlpool tub for two tucked into the corner. In the opposite corner, your eye is delighted by a small kiva fireplace to warm your bath on chilly evenings. The French doors in the bedroom let fresh Hill Country breezes and the songs of Mother Nature lull you to sleep in the king-size bed dressed in beautiful linens. In the morning, step through the French doors to the secluded back porch. Relax in the swing and enjoy a breath-taking view of Palo Alto Creek while enjoying your morning coffee.
