Located on six plus acres and only fifteen minutes from Fredericksburg this two-story
log cabin is rustic, private and comfortable. The log section of the home is circa
1835 and was moved here from West Virginia. The stairway is original and rather
steep.
Two porches, one on the front and one on the side create a peaceful relaxation.
Inside the living/dining room encompasses pioneer living with modern amenities.
The overstuffed deep red sofa (queen-size sleeper) is placed to enjoy the limestone
rock fireplace or watch the TV/VCR. The dining room table has comfortable seating
for 6 people.
The full kitchen has a stove/oven, refrigerator, microwave and coffeemaker.
Decorative punched tin creates attractive cabinets. French doors lead out to
the side porch complete with rockers. This porch is great for watching our Texas
sunsets. The downstairs bath has a tub/shower and a rustic wood cabinet frames
the sink.
A great deal of love and time has gone in to picking up a magnificent array
of primitive antiques and then your hosts tastefully mixed them with modern
day comfort. Upstairs is a king-size sleigh bed, a shabby chic dresser and large
armoire. The old trunk at the top of the stairs was a special “find”
and is very unique. The bath upstairs has a claw-foot tub……great
for those long, luxurious soaks.
Your hosts looked for that perfect property since they first stayed with Gästehaus
Schmidt on their honeymoon and fell in love with the people and the town. This
6+ acres was especially attractive to them because of it’s quiet atmosphere
and that the back part of the property goes up to the Pedernales River.
